The Channel Highway is a highway in the south of the Australian state of Tasmania. It leads from Hobart along the D' Entrecasteaux Channel to the mouth of the Huon River and then up the river as far as Huonville.

Course

The road begins in Taroona, a southern suburb of Hobart on the estuary of the Derwent River as a continuation of Sandy Bay Road. It follows the coast to Kingston, where it is connected to the Southern Outlet (A6) and the Huon Highway ( A6), the direct connection to Huonville. About Hunting Field, Margate, Electrona, Snug, Kettering, Woodbridge, Birch Bay, Flowerpot, Middleton and Gordon the Channel Highway pulls along the D' Entrecasteaux Channel to the south and reaches in Verona Sands, the southern tip of the formed by the estuary of the Huon River and the Channel Peninsula. From there, the road leads on the west bank of the Huon River to the northwest on Garden Creek Iceland, Cygnet, Cradoc and Woodstock to its end point in Huonville.

Bypass of Kingston

In February 2010, the State Government of Tasmania approved the construction of a 2.8 km long bypass for the city of Kingston. This workaround involves the underpass of Summerleas Road, the Algona Road and various bike paths.
