Chao Fa Chai

Prince Chai ( full title: Somdet Chao Fa Chai, Thai: สมเด็จ เจ้าฟ้า ไชย, Another Name: Somdet Phrachao Sanphet VI, Thai:. สมเด็จ พระเจ้า สรร เพ ช ญ์ ที่ 6) († August 8, 1656 ) was the 7th and August 8, 1656 the 27th king of the kingdom Ayutthaya in Siam (now Thailand), successor of King Prasat Thong.

Life

Prince Chai was the eldest son of King Prasat Thong. Following his death on August 7, 1656 " stormed Prince Chai with armed men to the palace and took the throne ." Already the same evening gathered his brother, Prince Narai, his followers. They arrested the next day Prince Chai and took him to the "Hill of Phraya ". There he was executed as was customary for kings: he was put in a Samtsack to shed no royal blood on the floor. He was then beaten with sticks of sandalwood to death.

Narai then had himself crowned king his uncle Phra Si Suthammaracha, he was nominated simultaneously for Uparat ( " Viceroy ").
