Ratsadathirat

Ratsada (full name: Somdet Phra Ratsadathirat, Thai: สมเด็จ พระ รั ษ ฎา ธิ ราช, also: Rattha; * 1529/30, † 1534/35 ) was the 13th king of the Siamese kingdom of Ayutthaya. He reigned from 1533/34-1534/35 ( C. S. 895-896 ).

Life

As Borommaracha IV died, his only son, Prince Ratsadathirat Kuman was just five years old. Although he was crowned king, he held this post but only five months before he was murdered by the half-brother of his father Chairacha. This then had her crown himself as Chairachathirat king.

The chronicler Jeremias Van Vliet, merchant of the Dutch East India Company (VOC ), who lived from 1633 to 1642 in Ayutthaya, describes the king as follows:

"The Son of No Phutthangkun followed his father to the throne when he was five years old. He was named Woraratsadathirat. This child was crowned king because the previous king had neither a brother nor older sons for lack of more qualified people. He did not live more than five months. He was murdered by his cousin, who led the kingdom as regent. "
