Chapati

Chapatis have been brought by Indian immigrants also to East Africa and are in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania under the same name as a local food. Chapatimehl here as wheat flour is used, and the cup is lubricated prior to baking.

For the preparation of chapati or whole wheat flour with water, ghee or oil and salt is made into a dough, rolled thin after suspension and dry baked briefly in a pan on both sides.

One version would be tandoori chapatis. For them, the sheeted dough is repeatedly brushed with ghee, folded and re- rolled, so that the result is reminiscent of puff pastry. You will be served with tandoori dishes.

More Indian flatbreads are Puri, consisting of the same dough as chapatis, but is fried, Nan and the spicy Papadam.
