Charles A. Buckley

Charles Anthony Buckley ( born June 23, 1890 in New York City; † January 22, 1967 ) was an American politician. Between 1935 and 1965 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Anthony Buckley attended public schools. He was since 1914 contractor and builder. Between 1918 and 1923 he sat on the Board of Aldermen of New York City. It was 1923 Tax Appraiser in New York - a position which he held until 1929. Between 1929 and 1933 he was treasurer in New York City. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1934 for the 74th Congress Buckley was the 23rd electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Frank Oliver on January 4, 1935. He was re-elected four times in a row. In 1944 he stood as a candidate in the 25th electoral district of New York for the 79th Congress. After a successful election, he entered on January 4, 1945, the successor of Ralph A. Gamble. He was re-elected three times in a row. In the congressional elections of 1952 for the 83rd Congress, he was elected in the 24th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of Isidore Dollinger on January 4, 1953. He was re-elected four times in a row. In 1962 he stood as a candidate in the 23rd electoral district of New York for the 88th Congress. After a successful election, he stepped on 4 January 1963, the successor of Jacob H. Gilbert. He suffered in his renewed re-election bid in 1964 after the defeat and resigned January 3, 1965 from the Congress of. During his time Congress he had presided over the Committee on Pensions ( 78th and 79th Congress ) and the Committee on Public Works ( 82 and 84th to 88th Congress ).

He died on January 22, 1967 in New York City. His body was then buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
