Charles-Ange Laisant

Charles -Ange Laisant ( born November 1, 1841 in Indre, near Nantes, † May 5, 1920 in Asnières -sur -Seine ) was a French politician and mathematician.

Life

Laisant entered 1861 in the Polytechnic School and, after he had finished his course on the same, assigned to the genius Corps. 1870 captain, he was commissioned during the siege of Paris by the fortifications at Fort Issy and sent to service matters to Corsica, and Algiers.

Since he was minded decided republican and as General Council of the department of Loire - Inférieure fought the former monarchical government, he took his departure in 1876 from military service and had himself elected to Nantes in the Chamber of Deputies, in which he joined the Republican club; later he was a member of the radicals. He made himself especially by his rejected several times, but always repeated proposals to amend the military law on abolition of the one-year volunteers and reducing the service life of five years to three noticeable.

Even as a mathematician was Laisant active and in 1877 received his doctorate; He published: Introduction à la méthode of quaternions (1881 ). Since 1879 he was editor of Le Petit Parisien, in which he fiercely attacked Cissey because of the relationship with Kaulla, so he was sentenced in November 1880 to pay a fine.

1916 was Laisant signatories of the Manifesto of the Sixteen.
