Charles Beitz

Charles R. Beitz ( born July 20, 1949) is an American philosopher and a professor of political philosophy at the Department of Politics at Princeton University. Since 2009 he has also ibid director of the University Center for Human Values ​​.

Beitz graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor's degree before earning his Ph.D. at Princeton. After he had taught first at Swarthmore College and at Bowdoin College, he finally returned in 2001 at Princeton University back.

His research interests lie primarily in political theory, democratic theory, justice theory and the theory of human rights.
