Charles Bigelow (type designer)

Charles Bigelow ( born 1945 in Detroit ) is a type designer and font historian. In 1982 he received a MacArthur Fellowship. Along with Kris Holmes, he is the creator of the font families Lucida and Wingdings font vendor and owner of Bigelow & Holmes.

From 1982 to 1997 he was professor of digital typography at Stanford University. In mid-2006 he accepted an appointment as professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

In 1982 he was MacArthur Fellow.
