Charles, Count of Angoulême

Charles lived preferably at his castle in Cognac, where he worked as a patron of the arts and science. In 1490 he married by order of the regent Anne of Beaujeu, the Princess Louise of Savoy, daughter of Duke Philip II of Savoy and Marguerite de Bourbon. Their children were:

  • Margaret (* 1492, † 1549) ∞ 1509 with Duke Charles IV of Alençon
  • ∞ 1527 King Henry II of Navarre

With his mistress Antoinette de Polignac Charles had a daughter:

  • Johanna batarde d' Angoulême ( † after 1531), Countess of Bar-sur -Seine ∞ with Jean V. de Longwy, † 1520/21, Seigneur de Givry, Baron de Pagny et Mirebeau (House Chaussin )
