Charles Goodnight

Charles Goodnight ( born March 5, 1836 in Macoupin County, † December 12, 1929 in Phoenix, Arizona) was a rancher in the U.S., who ran ranching.

In 1856 he was Cowboy and participated in the battles against the Comanches. In 1857 he was Texas Ranger. During the Civil War he took part on the side of the Confederate States of America in the fighting. In 1866 he drove along with Oliver Loving a herd of cattle to the north. This path is called Goodnight - Loving Trail today. Also on Goodnight goes back to the Chuck Wagon. In 1870 he married Mary Ann Dyer and invented for them a saddle.

During his time as he crossed bison with cattle ranchers and so was the so-called Beefalo.

After the death of his wife in 1926 he became seriously ill, but was nursed back to health by a nurse named Corinne Goodnight and the two married in 1927. During his last years, he was still trying to be a film producer.
