Charles Howard, 2nd Earl of Nottingham

Charles Howard, 2nd Earl of Nottingham, 3rd Baron Howard of Effingham (* September 17, 1579; † October 3, 1642 ) was an English nobleman.

Life

Charles Howard was born on September 17, 1579 in Bletchingley, the son of the then second Baron and first Earl's future. Father and grandfather were both British Großadmiräle and came from the famous English noble family of the Howards, whose leader was the Duke of Norfolk. He died on October 8, 1642 in Leatherhead, and was buried in Reigate.

Political career

From a young age he was concerned with the policy and has been chosen as the age of eighteen in 1597 in the House of Commons as MP for Bletchingley for the session of October / November 1597. After that, he was 1597/98 deputy of the county of Surrey, in 1601 and 1604 to 1611 for the county of Sussex and Shoreham in 1614. Besides he was Keeper of the Windsor Great Park on 22 October 1601 to 11 November 1616. Early as 11 May 1603 he received a knighthood. In addition to the Great Park in Windsor, he was on November 4, 1603 also Keeper of Ditton Park in the county of Buckinghamshire. In 1605 he accompanied his to the Earl of Nottingham now raised his father to train to Spain against the Spanish Armada. On July 27, 1621 he was appointed as representative of the Crown, Lord Lieutenant of the county of Surrey, an office which he held until his death on October 8, 1641. Meanwhile he had inherited his title as 3rd Baron Howard of Effingham and 2nd Earl of Nottingham in December 1624 after the death of his father. He was from 1626 to 1638 Vice- Admiral of Sussex.
