Charles N. Crosby

Charles Noel Crosby ( born September 29, 1876 at the Ashtabula County, Ohio; † January 26, 1951 in Frederick, Maryland ) was an American politician. Between 1933 and 1939 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Crosby attended preparatory schools and the New Lyme Institute in Ohio and the Allegheny College in Meadville. In 1897 he graduated from the Western Reserve University in Cleveland. In 1901 he moved to Linesville, Pennsylvania, where he established silos. He also worked in the lumber business. Since 1914 he has also worked in agriculture. Between 1920 and 1929 he was a member of the education committees of the cities Linesville and Meadville. From 1922 to 1924 he was president of the Chamber of Commerce of Meadville. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1932, Crosby was the 29th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Milton William Shreve on 4 March 1933. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1939 three legislative periods. During this time, many of the New Deal legislation of the Roosevelt administration were adopted. 1935, the provisions of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution were first applied, after which the term of the Congress ends, or begins on January 3.

In 1938, Charles Crosby has not been nominated by his party for re-election. In 1940 he moved into the Montgomery County, Maryland, where he operated a dairy farm. He died on January 26, 1951 in Frederick and was buried in Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington ( Virginia).
