Charles Simpkins

Charles " Charlie" Simpkins (* October 19, 1963 in Aiken ) is a retired American triple jumper.

He participated in the World Athletics Championships in 1987 partly in Rome, but retired after the qualifying round. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 1989, he finished ninth. The greatest success of his career, he finally celebrated at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, when he left his compatriot Mike Conley won the silver medal with a distance of 17.60 m.

With his personal best of 17.86 meters, set in 1985 in Kobe, Charles Simpkins occupied at the time the third in the all-time best list. He was twice U.S. champion in the triple jump (1986 and 1992). He is 1.85 m tall and weighed 72 kg to his playing days.
