Charlie Alexander

Charlie Alexander (* May 29, 1890 in Cincinnati, Ohio; † February 4, 1970 ) was an American jazz pianist.

In Cincinnati, he began in the early 1920s, initially to play along as a professional musician in theater orchestras. This he continued even after his move to Chicago in the band by J. Rosamund Jackson moment on, until he has been engaged in jazz bands, such as Johnny Dodds and Bert Kelly. In the early 1930s he was then pianist in the Big Band Louis Armstrong, but he left after Armstrong had decided in 1932 to re- occur with smaller formations. Charlie Alexander was active until the 1940s. Among other things, he also worked with Baby Dodds, Mike McKendrick, George James, John Lindsay and Lil Hardin Armstrong. From Chicago, he eventually moved to California.
