Château Gruaud-Larose

The Château Gruaud - Larose is a winery in the Bordeaux region in France. It is located in western hills of Saint -Julien and is surrounded by a well kept garden with lawn, flowers and white gravel paths.

Since the classification of 1855, the winery is classified as Deuxieme Grand Cru Classée, second- highest level of classification.

The manor house is a two storey multi-bladed mansion.

History

1757 bought the pastor Gruaud three small adjacent plots on the plateau of Saint- Julien- Beychevelle on and adding them to the Château Gruaud. His nephew, Sebastien Larose, it eventually baptized into Château Gruaud - Larose.

After the death Gruauds Good Gruaud - Larose - Sarget was divided into two units, and Gruaud - Larose - Faure. 1934 united the two goods Désiré Cordier again by purchase. The 82 -acre estate was for decades the flagship of the wine trade group Cordier in Bordeaux. However, it was sold as a result of economic problems of this group in 1997 to the group of Bernard Taillan. The estate is managed by winemaker Georges Pauli.

Articles and their evaluation

About a third of the wines produced wine is marketed under the label of the second wine Sarget you Gruaud - Larose.

The best younger resulting in Gruaud - Larose wine comes from the 2000 vintage, which was rated by the wine critic Robert Parker 94 Parker Points (PP). After the wines in the following years (2001-2008) were ranked lower, Parker are the vintages 2009 and 2010 (provisional) 92-94 points. Previous vintages have scored well in 1990 (93 pp), 1986 ( 94 pp), 1982 ( PP 96 ), 1961 (96 pp).
