Chen Xiaowang

Chen Xiaowang (Chinese陈小旺, Pinyin Chén Xiǎowàng; b. 1946 ) 19th generation of the Chen family in Chenjiagou, Henan, China, the main proponent of the Chen style of internal martial art Taijiquan.

Chen Xiaowang experienced in childhood or his famous grandfather Chen Fake. He learned since the age of eight Taijiquan, first with his father, Chen Zhaoxu, then at Zhaopi Chen and Chen Zhaokui (see also each article on Chen Fake ). Chenjiagou was still a sleepy town in the Chinese hinterland. But when the Japanese began to be interested in Taijiquan, they inquired also about the origins of this art, and finally came so after Chenjiagou where them the good thirty year-old Chen Xiaowang was presented as a leading champion and heritage of the family tradition among others. This made ​​the visit of the Japanese thoughtfully, as Japan itself has a long and rich tradition of martial arts. Chen Xiaowang wanted to provide the superior depth of Taijiquan prove the world, and so he stopped his daily training schedule again significantly on. Due to over thirty shape runs per day and strong attention to the basic structure of work he acquired a high level.

He systematized the basic exercises of the Chen style. So he developed his own form of " standing column " Zhanzhuang and put together two separate sets of "Be exercises " Cansigong. He also developed short forms with 9, 19 and 38 figures.

In 1994 he founded together with his student January Silberstorff the World Chen Taiji Association WCTA and its German branch, the WCTAG.

Chen Xiaowang is now traveling constantly to spread authentic Taijiquan throughout the world.
