Cheng Siwei

Cheng Siwei (* 1935 in Xiang Xiang, Hunan ) is a Chinese politician of the Democratic National Construction Association of China ( DNAC ), a body approved by eight political parties besides the Communist Party of China, and from 1998 to 2008, including Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Life

After schooling Cheng Siwei studied from 1951 to 1956 at the Technical University of South China, Guangzhou, and at the Institute of Engineering. After that, he was employed from 1956 until 1958 as a laborer at the Research Institute of Chemical Engineering, Shenyang, before 1958 to 1973 as an engineer at the Research Institute of Chemical Engineering in Tianjin worked. After that, he was 1973-1981 Engineer in the Department of Petroleum Chemistry at the Research Institute of Petroleum Chemical Engineering, before he then studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA ) studied, from which he graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1984.

After his return to China, he was from 1984 to 1993 chief engineer in Scientific and Technological Office of the Ministry of chemical industry and also from 1988 to 1993 Vice- Chairman of the Scientific and Technological Research Institute of this ministry. Subsequently, he was from 1994 to 1996 Vice Minister, Ministry of Chemical Industry.

At the same time he began his political activities and was initially 1994 to 1996 Vice- Chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic National Construction Association of China, one of eight approved outside the CCP parties of the People's Republic.

He was then Chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic National Construction Association of China and thus party chairman in 1996. He continued in this position until his replacement by Chen Changzhi in December 2007.

In addition, he was between 1998 and 2008 also Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, a 150 - member panel of the National People's Congress, which shall carry out the work of the parliament between the sessions planner. In this office he also followed Chen Changzhi.

Since 2003 he is also Chairman of the Research Society for " soft sciences " (China Soft - Science Research Society ) and Director of the Department of Science Management of the National Science Foundation. He is also Honorary Professor of Business Administration at the University of Hong Kong.
