Chenonceaux

Chenonceaux is a commune with 358 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Indre- et- Loire in the Centre region; it belongs to Arrondissement Tours and Canton Bléré. It lies about 25 km east of Tours on the right bank of the Cher.

Attractions

  • Château de Chenonceau - no "x " at the end; the difference in spelling derived according to tradition, from the time of the French Revolution, when the then owner, Madame Dupin, wanted to settle by the omission of the letter from the resort. Since then, the place with the castle and is written without "x".
