Chester-le-Street (District)
Chester -le-Street was a District in the County of Durham in England. Administrative headquarters was the town of Chester -le- Street, who lived about half of the population. Other important towns were Beamish and Pelton Fell.
The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Urban District Chester -le-Street Rural District and the Chester -le- Street.
On 1 April 2009 in addition to Chester -le-Street, County Durham all Dictricts were abolished in the course of administrative reform and combined into the Unitary Authority of Durham.
