Chet Jastremski

Andrew Chester "Chet " Jastremski ( born January 12, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, USA ) is a retired American swimmer.

As Chet Jastremski began at Indiana University, he was a butterfly specialist, but was soon under coach Counsilman to the then world's best breaststroke. He swam nine world records, 17 American records and was the first man who swam the 100 yard breast under a minute.

Jastremski figured on the front page of the American sports magazine Sports Illustrated on 29 January 1962.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he won the bronze in the 200m breaststroke. 1968 in Mexico City, he got 100 m medley relay for his efforts in the supply of gold with the U.S. 4 x.

In his capacity as a physician Dr. Chet Jastremski was a member of the U.S. medical team at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1977.
