Chevreuse

Chevreuse is a commune with 5808 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Yvelines department in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to the district Rambouillet and Chevreuse Canton. It lies on the border of the département of Essonne 18 km northeast of Rambouillet and 31 km south-west of Paris, on the banks of the River Yvette. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park Haute vallée de Chevreuse (French Parc naturel régional de la haute vallée de Chevreuse ).

Neighboring municipalities are Milon- la -Chapelle in the Northeast, Saint- Rémy -lès- Chevreuse to the east, Boullay -les- Troux to the southeast, Choisel the southwest, Saint -Forget the west and Saint -Lambert in the northwest

History

Chevreuse is a " Cavrosa " was first mentioned in a papal document from the year 980, in the 11th century Guy de Chevreuse began with the construction of the castle is still the dominant place La Madeleine.
