The University of Chiba (Japanese千叶 大学, Chiba daigaku ) is a national university in Japan. The main campus is located in Inage -ku, Chiba in Chiba Prefecture.

History

The university was founded in 1949 by the merger of five state schools. The five were:

  • Medical School Chiba (千叶 医科大学, Chiba ika daigaku founded 1874),
  • The Normal School Chiba (千叶 师范学校, Chiba shihan Gakko, founded in 1872 ),
  • Youth Normal School Chiba (千叶 青年 师范学校, Chiba shihan his Gakko in Yotsukaido, founded in 1920 ),
  • The pilot Tokyo (东京 工业 専 门 学校, Tōkyō Kōgyō Semmon Gakko in Matsudo, founded in 1921 ), and
  • The Agricultural Technical School Chiba (千叶 农业 専 门 学校, Chiba nōgyō Semmon Gakko in Matsudo, founded in 1909 ).

The University had first five Faculties: Liberal Arts, medicine, pharmacy, engineering and design, and horticulture. At that time she had six small sites, and 1962, she opened the new main campus ( Nishi Chiba Campus ).

The Medical School Chiba

The Medical College was as Kyōritsu Hospital (共 立 病院) founded in 1874, with the conferral of Chiba City and the close -lying villages. 1876 ​​was a präfekturales hospital and continued the course for medical education. In 1882, the price for the prefectural Medical School Chiba (県 立 千叶 医 学校, Kenritsu Chiba igakkō ).

1887, the School of Medicine of the First National Higher Secondary School was (第一 高等 中 学校 医学 部), and in 1890 they moved to the present Inohana campus. In the same year she put the Department of Pharmacy. In 1894 it was renamed the Faculty of Medicine of the First National High School (第一 高等学校 医学 部).

1901 developed the faculty to the Medical Technical School Chiba (千叶 医学 専 门 学校, Chiba Igaku Semmon Gakko ) and then in 1923 to the Medical School Chiba. Built in 1936, the main building of the hospital is still going on as the main building of the Faculty of Medicine.

The technical Tokyo

It was founded in 1921 as a pilot Tokyo Higher School of Technology and Design Tokyo (东京 高等 工 芸 学校, Tōkyō Kōtō Kogei Gakko ), a trade school for product design. The school buildings were next to the Tamachi Station in Minato today -ku, Tokyo. In 1944 she was renamed Tokyo and pilot in May 1945 during the Pacific War, it lost the school building. After the war he moved into the former campus of the military school in Matsudo in Chiba Prefecture, so the pilot plant in 1949 was composed of Chiba University.

The agricultural technical school Chiba

The agricultural technical school Chiba was (千叶 県 立 园 芸 専 门 学校, Chiba kenritsu Engei Semmon Gakko ) founded in 1909 as a prefectural Horticulture Trade School Chiba. In 1929, she was a State technical college and named in Higher School of Horticulture Chiba (千叶 高等 园 芸 学校, Chiba Kōtō Engei Gakko ) around. She was the first and only state horticulture school in Japan. In 1944 she was renamed the Agricultural Technical School Chiba.
