Chicago Shamrocks

The Chicago Shamrocks were an American ice hockey team from Chicago, Illinois. The team played from 1930 to 1932 in the American Hockey Association.

History

The franchise was founded in 1930 as an expansion team in the American Hockey Association. There they filled the gap, the Chicago Cardinals, who also played in the AHA, had left after their resettlement in 1927 in the city. In its premiere season the team finished in fifth place in the regular season and missed the playoffs. In the 1931/32 season took over the Canadian Babe Dye, the regular part as a player to the Topscorern the National Hockey League, the position as head coach of the Shamrocks and led them straight away to the title. In the regular season, the Shamrocks took first place and qualified for the playoffs sovereign. In the play-off semi-finals, the team received a bye in the final they beat the Duluth Hornets with a 3-1 victory in the best- of-five series. Despite this success, the franchise was subsequently dissolved.
