St. Louis Flyers

The St. Louis Flyers were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from St. Louis, Missouri. The venue for the Flyers was the St. Louis Arena.

History

The St. Louis Flyers were founded in 1928 as a franchise of the American Hockey Association in which they were until 1942 a total of 14 years active. During this time the team five times the playoffs the AHA (1934/35 1940/41, 1935/36, 1937/38, 1938/39, ) won. After the franchise was inactive for two years, it took the 1944 game mode back on and joined the American Hockey League game in which it played until 1953, nine more years. The St. Louis Flyers, who were the first and only AHL franchise from St. Louis, reached in their time in the American Hockey League just twice the playoffs. However, in the seasons 1948/49 and 1949/50, they failed both times in the first round of the Providence Reds and the Indianapolis Capitals. In 1953, the franchise was finally dissolved on his 25th anniversary.
