Binghamton Dusters

The Binghamton Dusters were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League in Binghamton, New York. The venue of the Broome Dusters was County Veterans Memorial Arena.

History

After the North American Hockey League was disbanded in 1977, the owners of the Broome Dusters acquired the Rhode Iceland Reds of the American Hockey League and moved them around to Binghamton, New York, where they played as Binghamton Dusters in the AHL. The greatest success of the team in the AHL was the playoff participation in the 1978/79 season, in which one of the New Haven Nighthawks only lost in the semifinals in the best- of-seven series with 2:4. In the other two seasons in the AHL, the Dusters each missed the playoffs. After the 1979/80 season the team was renamed the Binghamton Whalers.
