Philadelphia Rockets

The Philadelphia Rockets were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The venue for the Rockets was the Philadelphia Arena.

History

After the New York Rangers had finished from the National Hockey League in 1941, their collaboration with the Philadelphia Ramblers of the American Hockey League, this changed their name to Philadelphia Rockets. In their first season in the AHL, the Rockets reached only 26 points from 56 games and the franchise was temporarily resolved. The gap left by the Rockets in Philaldephia, was then filled from the Philadelphia Falcons, who were active from 1942 to 1946 in the Eastern Hockey League. When the Rockets again took up the game operating in the 1946/47 season they missed the playoffs again clearly, winning only 17 points in 64 games, which is one of the worst seasons of an AHL franchise represented at all. In the following two years, the playoffs have not been reached, so that the franchise was finally dissolved in 1949.
