Nova Scotia Voyageurs

History

The Montreal Voyageurs in 1971 to Halifax, Nova Scotia, relocated, where they played as a farm team of the Montreal Canadiens under the name Nova Scotia Voyageurs in the American Hockey League. Already in their first AHL season, the team was able to win Calder Cup in the 1971/72 season - the first Canadian team ever. The following year, the Voyageurs again subjected to the final, where they lost to Cincinnati Swords with 1:4 victories. In the years 1976 and 1977 Nova Scotia won the title two and three against the Hershey Bears and the Rochester Americans. In the following seven years, the Voyageurs failed at the latest in the second playoff round before they were in 1984 by Sherbrooke, Quebec, resettled where they henceforth as de Sherbrooke Canadiens played in the AHL.

The gap that emerged in Halifax due to the translocation of the voyageurs, was filled by the two AHL clubs Nova Scotia Oilers (1984-1988) and Halifax Citadel ( 1988-1993 ).
