Houston Aeros (1994–2013)

The Houston Aeros were an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League ( AHL ). Already in the 1970s there was a team that played under the name in the World Hockey Association, but after the closure of the league, the team was disbanded. The Aeros were founded in 1994 and played up to and including the 2000/01 season in the International Hockey League ( IHL ). There she won the 1999 Turner Cup. As of the 2001 /02 season they played in the AHL, where they have won the Calder Cup in 2003. Like all AHL teams, they worked closely with a team of the National Hockey League; at the Houston Aeros, it was Minnesota Wild. Farm team of the Houston Aeros were again most recently the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.

After the 2012/13 season, the team was moved immediately to Des Moines, Iowa, where it participates with the beginning of season 2013/14 under the name of Iowa Wild League on operation of the American Hockey League.
