Long Beach Ice Dogs
The Long Beach Ice Dogs were an American Hockey franchise from Long Beach, California. The venue for the Ice Dogs was the Long Beach Sports Arena.
History
The Los Angeles Ice Dogs were following the 1995/96 season to Long Beach, California, relocated and took their place in the International Hockey League one in which they played under the name Long Beach Ice Dogs to 2000. Equal in their first season, the team reached in the 1996/97 season, the final of the Turner Cup, but it lost to the Detroit Vipers in the best- of-seven series with 2:4 victories. In the following three years, the team reached at least the second playoff round, but despite the success in the IHL joined the team, which have always been cared for in the first four years of the former Canadian NHL professional John Van Boxmeer, 2000 in the West Coast Hockey League. When this was dissolved three years later, Long Beach joined together with several other teams in the league the now nationally operating ECHL. After the 2006/ 07 season announced the owner of the Ice Dogs to the franchise could not be maintained due to continued losses, after which they were suspended from playing the ECHL.
