Phoenix Mustangs

The Phoenix Mustangs were an American ice hockey team from Phoenix, Arizona. The team played from 1997 to 2001 in the West Coast Hockey League.

History

The Phoenix Mustangs were established in 1997 as a franchise of the West Coast Hockey League. In their first season the team reached second in the WCHL South Division immediately the playoffs for the Taylor Cup, in which they claimed a 3-2 victory in the best-of -five series on the Fresno Fighting Falcons until the second round with a sweep in the best- of-seven series at eventual champions San Diego Gulls failed. After a Erstundenaus the following year the team from Arizona graduated in the 1999/2000 season their most successful season. With wins in the playoffs over the Bakersfield Condors, San Diego Gulls, and finally in the finals, the Tacoma Sabercats, who were beaten 4-0 victories, won the Phoenix Mustangs for the first and only time the Taylor Cup. After the following season, the franchise was dissolved by the authorities.
