West Coast Hockey League
The West Coast Hockey League ( WCHL ) was an ice hockey minor league in the United States, at the game operation from 1995 to 2003 clubs from the western states of the country, namely, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and Washington, which was attended.
The league started in 1995 with six teams:
- Alaska Gold Kings
- Anchorage Aces
- Bakersfield Fog
- Fresno Falcons
- Reno Renegades
- San Diego Gulls
The trophy, won by the respective masters of the season, was the Taylor Cup, named after the founder of the league, which also belonged to the franchises from Bakersfield, Fresno and Reno half of the teams.
In May 2003, the WCHL Taylor Cup and was taken over by the East Coast Hockey League, which then changed its official name to the abbreviation ECHL changed, as they now operated nationwide. With the franchises from Bakersfield, Fresno, Idaho, Long Beach and San Diego now play six of the former WCHL teams in the West and the Pacific Division of the ECHL National Conference.
