Colorado Gold Kings

The Colorado Gold Kings were an American ice hockey team from Colorado Springs, Colorado. The team played from 1998 to 2002 in the West Coast Hockey League.

History

The Alaska Gold Kings of the West Coast Hockey League in 1998 after a year of inactivity, to Colorado Springs, Colorado, relocated and renamed the Colorado Gold Kings. In its first season, the team immediately reached third in WCHL North Division the playoffs for the Taylor Cup, in which they were subject, however, already in the first round of the Anchorage Aces in the best- of-three series with 1:2 victories. In the following two seasons, the Gold Kings silently failed in each case only in the second playoff round at the Tacoma Sabercats and Idaho Steelheads. Following the 2001/ 02 season, the leaders withdrew the team from the game operation of the WCHL and solved the franchise on.
