Central Hockey League

The Central Hockey League ( CHL ) is a professional American ice hockey minor league, which is run by the Global Entertainment Corporation.

History

From 1963 to 1984 there were in the United States, a Central Hockey League, which was founded by Jack Adams. This is also called the Central Professional Hockey League. In 1992, this idea of Bill Levin and Ray Miron who was already in 1976 been president of the old CHL was taken up again and the Central Hockey League revived. Levins and Miron were thus sole owner of the league.

The league started in 1992/93 with six teams in their first season, these clubs were the Oklahoma City Blazers, the Tulsa Oilers, the Wichita Thunder, the Memphis RiverKings, the Dallas Freeze and the Fort Worth Fire.

After the death of Levin's the trophy that is awarded to the winner of the CHL playoffs, was renamed in Levin's Cup, Miron retired in 2000 from the sport back and sold the CHL to the Global Entertainment Corporation. The champion trophy was again renamed and now bears the name Ray Miron President's Cup. In 2001, the CHL merged with the Western Professional Hockey League, the game operation was still held under the name Central Hockey League.

On 1 June 2010, the league announced together with the International Hockey League cooperation from the 2010/11 season known. The five IHL teams switched to this season in the CHL, IHL, however, the first remained officially organizing committee composed. First, the Fort Wayne Komets, Bloomington PrairieThunder, Dayton Gems and Quad City Mallards were included in the CHL. After Evansville Icemen were taken from the All American Hockey League in the summer of 2010 in the IHL, including those of CHL were allowed to join, bringing the number of participants in the 2010/11 season consisted of a total of 18 teams. At season's end, first left the Odessa Jackalopes of the CHL from the game mode, which alternated with a new team in the North American Hockey League. The application for the Colorado Eagles in the ECHL was approved. The Master of the season 2010/11 Bossier - Shreveport Mudbugs presented just a few days after winning the title a game operation in June 2011 with immediate effect. Furthermore, the inclusion of the Mississippi River Kings in the Southern Professional Hockey League was announced.

For the 2013/14 season was the inclusion of the newly formed Brampton Beast, the first Canadian franchise in the league. The earlier one season inactive Laredo Bucks were sold and relocated to Saint Charles, Missouri, where they henceforth known as St. Charles Churchill participate in the game operation of the Central Hockey League. The Fort Worth Brahmas were reported for the season 2013/14 as inactive, while the Bloomington Blaze changed in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Ray Miron President's Cup

The trophy is awarded to the winner of the play-offs of the Central Hockey League since 2002. Previously, the champion was awarded from 1993 to 2001 the Ray Miron Cup.

Hall of Fame

For the 20th anniversary of the Central Hockey League led the league for the 2011/12 season own Hall of Fame similar to the Hockey Hall of Fame of the National Hockey League. The first members of the Hall of Fame have been included as part of the held in Tim 's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley in the U.S. state of Arizona CHL All-Star Game of 2011/12 season in the Hall of Fame. In the future, it is possible per year, a maximum of five individuals (of which a maximum of three players ) to induktieren in the CHL Hall of Fame.
