San Antonio Iguanas

The San Antonio Iguanas were an American ice hockey team from San Antonio, Texas. The team played from 1994 to 1997 and from 1998 to 2002 in Central Hockey League.

History

The San Antonio Iguanas were founded in 1994 as a franchise of the Central Hockey League. In their first two seasons they each reached the final of the Miron Cup, in which she and the Oklahoma City Blazers subject Wichita Thunder. On these two successful years the team was not able to connect in the following seasons. After the last place in the Western Division and miss the playoffs in the 1996/97 season the team played for a year not in the CHL before it never fulfilled from 1999 to 2002 on the second playoff round. Following the 2001/ 02 season, the leaders, the San Antonio Iguanas broke up and stopped the game operation. One of the reasons was the lack of sponsors through the establishment of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
