Craig Coxe

Craig Coxe ( born January 21, 1964 in Chula Vista, California ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Coxe, who was pulled in the NHL Entry Draft in 1982 in the fourth round to 66th position of the Detroit Red Wings, first played from 1982 to 1984 for the Belleville Bulls in the Ontario Hockey League. In June 1984, he then signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks after the Red Wings showed no more interest in him. The California native was first used in the farm team in the American Hockey League, but also made ​​his first nine NHL games. Overall Coxe remained until March 1988 in Vancouver, but was then released for Peter Bakovic and Brian Bradley to the Calgary Flames. Just six months later, Coxe joined its team. Together with Mike Bullard and Tim Corkery he is for Doug Gilmour, Steve Bozek, Mike Dark and Mark Hunter to the St. Louis Blues. This gave him again a year later, the settlement of a previous transfer business to the Chicago Blackhawks from which, however, immediately put him on the waiver list. From there, his former team took him from Vancouver under contract, in which he remained until the end of the season 1990/91.

In 1991 NHL Expansion Draft him then took the San Jose Sharks, a newly formed franchise, under contract. Coxe, who was thus able to return to his home state of California, only played ten times for the Sharks. He scored two goals. His first goal he scored in the first season game on 4 October 1991 at the 3:4 defeat against his former team from Vancouver, at the same time was the first goal of the franchise history of the Sharks.

After the season Coxe played until 2000 in various American minor leagues. From 1992 to 1993, the International Hockey League, 1993-1995, 1996-1998 and 1999-2000 in the Central Hockey League, as well as in the 1995/96 season in the Southern Hockey League and 1998/ 99 in the Western Professional Hockey League. He also played in the 1994 and 1995 Roller Hockey in the Roller Hockey International.

In the seasons 2000/ 01 and 2002/ 03 he worked as a head coach in the CHL.
