Wichita Thunder

The Wichita Thunder are an American ice hockey team from Wichita, Kansas. The team plays since its inception in 1992, in the Central Hockey League.

History

The Wichita Thunder were established in 1992 as a franchise of the Central Hockey League, in which they were one of the six founding members. After they had missed the playoffs in their first season, won the Wichita Thunder in 1994 and 1995 two consecutive Miron Cup. First they defeated in the 1993/94 season, the Tulsa Oilers in the best- of-seven series with a sweep before it the San Antonio Iguanas beat in the 1994/95 season with 4-2 victories. In the 1997/98 season, the Thunder moved for the third time in the playoff final, in which they clearly were subject to the Columbus Cottonmouths with 0:4. In the following years the team was not able then to the initial success and since then came out no longer on the second playoff round.
