Odessa Jackalopes (1997–2011)

The Odessa Jackalopes were an American ice hockey team from Odessa, Texas from 2001 to 2011 in the Central Hockey League, a North American minor league played. Cooperation partner of the club were the most recent New York Islanders of the National Hockey League and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

History

The franchise was founded in 1997 as a member of the Western Professional Hockey League, this league one belonged to their merger with the CHL in 2001. Its home games wearing the team in the 5,131 -seat Ector County Coliseum from. The team never won the championship and the Ray Miron President's Cup during their 10-year affiliation with the Central Hockey League. Greatest successes were in the seasons 2008/ 09 and 2009/10, reaching the third round, where the Jackalopes failed each in seven games to the Texas Brahmas and the Allen Americans.

Following the 2010/11 season, the franchise was dissolved and replaced by an eponymous franchise of the U.S. Junior League North American Hockey League.
