Louisville Rebels

The Louisville Rebels were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Louisville, Kentucky. The venue for the Rebels was the Freedom Hall.

History

The Huntington Hornets from the International Hockey League in 1957 of Huntington, West Virginia, to Louisville, Kentucky, relocated and renamed Louisville Rebels. Equal in their first season, the Louisville Rebels reached the final of the Turner Cup, in which they in the best- of-seven series almost defeated by the Indianapolis Chiefs with 3:4 victories. The following year they qualified again for the final and won the first and only time in its existence the Turner Cup by defeating the Fort Wayne Komets 4-2. Despite continued good performance and again reached the playoffs, the franchise of the Louisville Rebels was disbanded following the 1959 season / 60 after only three years.
