Toledo Goaldiggers

The Toledo Goal Diggers were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Toledo, Ohio. The venue for the Goal Diggers was the Toledo Sports Arena.

History

The Toledo Hornets were renamed in the summer of 1974 in Toledo Goal Diggers. The Goal Diggers were the Turner Cup, the championship of the IHL win already in their first season 1974/75. After the club was eliminated in the following season in the first play-off round, succeeded the Goal Diggers 1976/77 to come again into the final, which was lost, however.

In the season 1977/78 the team for the second time won the Turner Cup. This success could be repeated in 1982 and 1983. In 1984, the Goal Diggers were able to move into the play-off final to last and until then the sixth time. After the season 1985/86 the club was disbanded. Subsequently, the franchise was sold to Russ and Diane Parker. The club moved to Kansas City and became the independent Kansas City Blades.

One of the most well-known player who was with the Goal Diggers under contract of today's sports commentator Mike Eruzione.
