The Freedom Hall is a multipurpose arena in Louisville, Kentucky on the grounds of the Kentucky Exposition Center. Since December 1956, the arena home of the " Louisville Cardinals ", the basketball team of the University of Louisville, also the hall was so far six times the venue for the NCAA Basketball Final Four.
History
1956, the arena was opened and since then renovated several times. 1984 was the reduction of the hall floor by 3 meters, so that the spectator capacity of 16,613 to 18,749 today at basketball games and 19,169 could be raised at concerts. The record crowd at a basketball game was reached on January 21, 2006, 20,091 spectators at a game the Cardinals against the University of Connecticut. Over the years the arena of various franchises was used, among other things, of the Louisville Rebels from the International Hockey League, the Kentucky Colonels of the American Basketball Association and the Louisville Panthers of the American Hockey League. The only professional team that uses the hall as currently home stadium, the Louisville Fire of the second-class arena football league af2.
