Columbia Inferno
The Columbia Inferno are an American ice hockey team from Columbia, South Carolina. The team played from 2001 to 2008 in the ECHL and has since been inactive.
History
The Columbia Inferno were founded in 2001 as a franchise of the East Coast Hockey League. Their most successful season completed the team in the season 2002/ 03 when they first on the first place of the Southeast Division finished the regular season before they claimed victories over the Greenville Grrrowl, Pee Dee Pride and Mississippi Sea Wolves until the playoff finals to the Kelly Cup the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the best- of-seven series defeated with 1:4 victories. During the 2008/ 09 season, the team set out voluntarily with the game running in the ECHL after the owners could not previously enter into a new lease with the Carolina Coliseum in the time specified by the league. Originally, the franchise for season 2009/10 is expected to become operational game again, but this was canceled due to the financial crisis. Subsequently the ECHL granted the owners Dr. Ezra Riber and Sam Imbeau the team to let another year inactive.
