Greensboro Generals

The Greensboro Generals were an American Hockey franchise from Greensboro, North Carolina. The venue for the Generals was the Greensboro Coliseum.

History

The franchise was founded in 1999 and took his game mode in the ECHL. Head coach was Jeff Brubaker, who played in his playing career in the NHL. The General arrived in their debut season in 70 games 47 points, which they occupied the last rank of the Northeast Division. In the following season to improve the results, but the Generals with 59 points were still far from reaching the play -offs. The 2001/02 season ended just as disappointing and the play-offs found again take place without the general. The season 2002 /03 went down in history as the best of the franchise. The Generals won in the regular season 93 points that led to the initial entry into the play-offs. In the first round they defeated the Roanoke Express in four games before the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies subject in the second round in four games. This meant the biggest success in the history of the franchise. The 2003/ 04 included the general starting on the fifth rank of the Southern Division. With 82 points in the regular season, the playoffs were just missed, the qualified South Carolina Stingrays enough for one more point for the Final Tournament. Following the franchise was dissolved.
