Chief Minister of the Northern Territory

The Chief Minister of the Northern Territory is the head of government of the Territory Northern Territory, Australia.

Overview

The Chief Minister is appointed by the Administrator of the Northern Territory and is usually the leader of the largest party in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly. In times of major crisis, the Administrator also possible to move away from this award criterion.

Since the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly was established in 1974, the Northern Territory but not until 1978 was the self-government, contributed Goff Letts and his successor Paul Everingham ( until 1978 ) the title of majority leader, but had de facto the same tasks as the future Chief Minister.
