Chikballapur (also: Chik Ballapur, Chickballapur, Chikkaballapur, Chikkaballapura; Kannada: ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರ Cikkabaḷḷāpura [ tʃik ʌbʌɭ ː ː ɑ ː purʌ ] ) is a city in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Chikballapur is situated in the southeast of Karnataka, near the border of the neighboring Federal State of Andhra Pradesh 56 km north of the capital Bangalore. At the time of India's 2001 census, the population was 54 938 Chikballapurs. Since 2007, the city is the administrative center of the district of Chikballapur.

Chikballapur is situated in the southern part of the Deccan plateau at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level near the Nandi Hills. The name of the city means to the local language Kannada "Little Ballapur ". The suffix is used to distinguish it from the nearby town Dodballapur ( "Greater Ballapur "). Thanks to the National Highway 7, the city has a good transport connection to Bangalore.
