Chivhu

Chivhu, formerly Enkeldoorn and a stronghold of the Boers is a city with a population of 5,000 to 1,500 m above sea level 142 km south of Harare in Zimbabwe in the province of Mashonaland East.

Chivhu is the abbreviation of " Chivundhara ", which in Shona "Old man, who is close to the earth," signifies. Thought there was in Chivhu a chief, who was dwarfed. The city is located at a junction of the road system of Zimbabwe and has branches in the direction of Masvingo, Gweru, Harare and Chipinge. Chivhu has primary and secondary schools (St. Francis Of Assisi High School) and a hospital, which is, however, mostly operated by nurses who have to devote as in the rest of Zimbabwe, especially Aids, cholera and malaria. Near Chivhu the Ngezi is Park.
