The military airfield Chkalovsky located 31 km north-east of Moscow at Schtscholkowo in the Moscow Oblast ( Moscow Military District ) at Star City. It is named after Valery Pavlovich Chkalov.

Units

In Chkalovsky the 8th Air Division for special use ( 8 ADON ) is stationed directly to the High Command of the Air Force (VVS WHC) is assumed. The 8th ADON consists of the following units:

  • 70th air regiment for special use (70 APON )
  • 353 air regiment for special use ( 353 APON )
  • 354th air regiment for special use (354 APON )
  • 223 Fliegerabteilung

Aircraft types

The functions of the units and the parking places are divided into two. There exist in Chkalovsky both transport pilots and machines for electronic reconnaissance. At the station in Chkalovsky machines of transport pilots include An-12, An-26, An-72, Il- 76, and for ( VIP ) passenger transport Il -18, Il -62, Tu- 134 and Tu- 154. The last three types are operated in the colors of Aeroflot and Rossiya companies.

The fleet of the electronic reconnaissance consists of several An-12, Il- 18, Il -20, Il -22M "Bison ", Il- 76WKP / Il- 82 and Il- 86WKP.
