Chomętowo, Świdwin County

Chomętowo ( German Gumtow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is part of the rural municipality ( gmina ) Brzeżno ( Briesen ) in Świdwiński powiat ( county Schivelbein ). For sołectwo ( mayor's office ) Chomętowo part of the village Chomętówko.

Geographical Location

Chomętowo is located five kilometers south-east of Świdwin and two kilometers west of the side road to Gawroniec ( Gersdorf ), and is here to branch off in Kluczkowo ( Klützkow ) reach uzu. Nearest railway station is Smardzko ( Simmatzig ) at the track Świdwin - Połczyn Zdrój (Bad Polzin ).

History

Gumtow (later the colony Gumtow (now Polish: Chomętówko ) ) was first documented in 1337 in the land book of the Neumark. It belonged to the country Schivelbein and was twenty hooves in the possession of John de same. 1540 is the place with the princely office Schivelbein become the property of the Knights.

In 1698, a dispute between the Schivelbeiner and Gumtower citizens is reported because of the border timber. As 1736 Gumtow is subjected to the mill forced the Castle Mill in Schivelbein, the place had a mayor, seven farmers and a Kossäten. 1884 counted Gumtow seven farmers and ten owners. It was considered a rich farming village, had given in the 1886 a farmer his daughter proud 30000 Mark as dowry.

Had Gumtow in 1883, all 83 residents, so there were at least 153 people in 1939 who lived here in 38 households. On the 551.3 acre community area preferably agriculture and animal husbandry were operated. The village benefited from the proximity to the city Schivelbein in which the sale of its own products and to supply its own needs found enough opportunity.

By 1945 Gumtow belonged with Klützkow (now Polish: Kluczkowo ), long hook, Repzin ( Rzepczyno ) and Wartenstein ( Pzyrzecze ) for official and civil registry district Long hook in the Court House area Schivelbein. By 1932, the place was in a circle Schivelbein until this district Belgard ( Persante ) came up.

In early March Gumtow was occupied by Soviet troops. The German population was expelled, as the place was in Polish hands. Today Chomętowo belongs to Chomętówko Gmina Brzeżno in powiat Świdwiński.

Church

Gumtow had no church of their own. The village belonged to the parish Klützkow (now Polish: Kluczkowo ), which formed in 1933 with the parishes Reinfeld ( Bierzwnica ) and Dohna field ( Donatowo ) the parish Reinfeld. It belonged to the church district Schivelbein in the church of the Evangelical Church of Pomerania Old Prussian Union.

Today Chomętowo belongs to the parish of Koszalin ( Koszalin ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.
