Choo Choo Ch'Boogie

Choo Choo Ch'Boogie is the most successful title in the repertoire of rhythm & blues artist Louis Jordan, who became in 1946 the best-selling title of this musical style.

Genesis

Alto saxophonist Louis Jordan had with his own band, the Tympany Five, since December 1938 by Decca Records a record deal. Here are his first recordings on December 20, 1938, recorded. Jordan could produce a number of successes with his band already before Choo Choo Ch'Boogie arose because under its 20 previous hits on the Rhythm & Blues charts there were eight number-one hits.

On January 23, 1946 was developed with the production, directed by Milt Gabler in the Decca studios total of four titles, including Choo Choo Ch'Boogie / That Chick 's Too Young To Fry. The A-side was from the hillbilly guitar and cowboy singer Denver Darling (1909-1981), Vaughn Horton (1911-1988) and the producer Milt Gabler composed. Darling and Horton were professional songwriters, because the ASCAP has 42 or 239 items registered. Gabler's merit is the successful fusion of country elements with blues intonation at the A-side. The Tympany Five passed in this session of Wild Bill Davis ( piano ), Aaron Izenhall (trumpet ), Josh Jackson ( tenor saxophone), Carl Hogan ( electric guitar), Jesse " Po " Simpkins (bass) and Eddie Byrd (drums). The very moving Shuffle is typical of Gabler's and Jordan's popular sound formula, while the humorous text defused the actually described, level -less way of life of African-American stereotypes.
