Chotyń

Chotyn ( German New Kowanz ) is a residential place at Kowańcz ( Kowanz ) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland.

Geographical location

The living space is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 30 kilometers southeast of Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg) and about 5 kilometers west of Karlino ( Körlin ). Neighboring towns in the east Kowańcz ( Kowanz ), in the north Karścino ( Kerstin ) and in the southwest Krukowo ( Kruck Beck). About three kilometers south runs in east-west direction of the state highway 6, the former imperial road 2 corresponds here.

History

The village was founded in the 19th century as a result of the separation of the village Kowanz, ie the reorganization of land ownership and land management. Kowanz was a farming village, where the Office Körlin had different rights; the former royal Prussian Office Körlin in turn was sold in 1810 in private ownership. After separation, the owner of the Office Körlin was an area west of the village Kowanz on which he established a sheep farm. This led the mid-19th century the name Fisherman, named after the owner of the office, a Mr. Fischer. An " establishment Fisherman " is mentioned in Heinrich Berghaus ' Land of the Duchy of Pomerania book and the Principality of Rügen ( 1867). In 1870 bought a return migrants from the United States the court, which then bore the name of New America.

In 1901, a new owner bought the farm, which later received the name of New Kowanz. His descendant Karl Heinrich Schwarz was the last German owner of New Kowanz. New Kowanz belonged until 1945 to the municipality Kowanz and with this the district Kolberg- Körlin in the Prussian province of Pomerania.

In 1945, the place, like all Eastern Pomerania to Poland. The owner, his family and six families were displaced. New Kowanz received the Polish place names Chotyn.

Chotyn part of the mayor's office Karścino ( Kerstin ) in the Gmina Karlino ( urban and rural community Körlin ). With this, it is part of the powiat Białogardzki ( Belgarder circle) of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
