Chris Bell (author)

Chris Bell ( * 1960 in Holyhead, Wales ) is a British- New Zealand writer.

Bell practiced in the UK and Germany changing activities: He was editor and co-author of a music magazine, also worked as a songwriter and musician and was temporarily messenger for a record company.

In 1996 he published The Bumper Book of Lies, a collection of short stories, some of which were previously published in magazines, including The Third Alternative, Grotesque, The Heidelberg Review, transversion, Not One of Us and Takahe. In the anthology The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror ( 10th Annual Edition) his short story The Cruel Countess appeared, and there was described as an impressive debut.

Bells first novel Liquidambar (2003) won the 2004 contest "Search for a Great Read" hosted by UKA Press. It is a surreal examination of the crime films and trash issues of the 1940s, inspired by the paintings of Edward Hopper.

A conference to mark the 80th birthday of novelist Russell Hoban Bell in 2005 was a commemorative out. The brochure contained contributions from various admirers and employees of the author, among other things, Glenda Jackson, Andrew Davies and Sir Harrison Birtwistle.

Bell currently lives and works in Auckland, New Zealand, and is employed at the firm of " New Zealand Blogging Corporation ".
